Find your model

Type the model number of your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch or AirPods to see which model it is. The search runs in your browser: nothing you type is sent or saved.

How to find the model number

iPhone

In Settings

  1. Open Settings, then tap General.
  2. Tap About.
  3. Next to Model Number you first see the part number. Tap it to see the model number.

On the device

  • iPhone 7 or earlier: the model number is on the back.
  • iPhone 8 or later with a SIM tray: remove the SIM tray and look in the slot. The number is on the upper side, the side with the display. Use bright light overhead.
  • iPhone without a SIM tray: look inside the USB-C or Lightning connector, on the upper side (the side with the display). Use bright light overhead.

In Settings

  1. Open Settings, then tap General.
  2. Tap About.
  3. Next to Model Number you first see the part number. Tap it to see the model number.

On the device

  • Some iPad models: the model number is on the back.
  • If it is not on the back: look inside the USB-C or Lightning connector, on the upper side (the side with the display). Use bright light overhead.

Mac laptops

On the Mac

  1. Choose Apple menu > About This Mac to see the model name.
  2. For the exact model: hold the Option key and choose Apple menu > System Information, then select Hardware.
  3. Look for Model Identifier (for example MacBookPro18,1) and Model Number, which is the part number (for example MLH12xx/A; "xx" differs by region).

Printed on it

  • The serial number is usually printed on the underside of the Mac, near the regulatory markings. Enter it at checkcoverage.apple.com to find the model name.
  • The part number might also be on the original packaging.

On the Mac

  1. Choose Apple menu > About This Mac to see the model name.
  2. For the exact model: hold the Option key and choose Apple menu > System Information, then select Hardware.
  3. Look for Model Identifier and Model Number, which is the part number ("xx" in Apple's lists stands for letters that differ by region).

Apple Watch

On your iPhone

  1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the My Watch tab.
  3. Tap General, then tap About.
  4. Find the Model Number field. It first shows the part number, which begins with "M".
  5. Tap the Model Number field. It changes to the model number, which begins with "A" (for example A3581).

On the watch

  • The engraving on the back of your Apple Watch shows the case size and more information.

AirPods

On your iPhone

  1. Go to Settings, then tap Bluetooth. Or go to Settings, then tap the name of your AirPods.
  2. Find your AirPods in the list. If they aren't there, pair them to your device.
  3. Tap the More Info button next to your AirPods.
  4. If your device doesn't have iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 or later and your AirPods are connected: go to Settings > General > About, scroll down to the name of your AirPods, and tap it.

On the AirPods

  • AirPods or AirPods Pro: the model number is on the underside of each AirPod and starts with the letter A.
  • AirPods Max: the model number is behind the cushion on the left ear cup.

Apple's pages for Mac list part numbers and Model Identifiers rather than model numbers starting with A, so for a Mac, search for one of those.
